Getting Ready

Getting ready for any type of travel can be time consuming, so Wonder Treks has put together this page to help you and your student obtain the necessary travel documents and fulfill requirements to ensure a successful trip. We have prepared both a list of what needs to be done and a calendar to include the dates they should be done by.

For your convenience the links to the right have been created to offer you detailed information about various subjects. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you and your student to make this an unforgettable experience!

Student Selection Process:
1) Oct 30: Information meeting Sedona Library, 3:00
2) Nov 11: Student applications due
3) November 22: This year's team announced.
4) December 1: "Terms of Agreement" and $500 deposit due to hold students place on trip.

To Do List after selection process:
1) Purchase medical/evacuation insurance within 14 days of 1st deposit to Wonder Treks to obtain "cancel for any reason" coverage. We recommend Travel Guard (www.TravelGuard.com) as a broad insurance product that covers travel, medical, and evacuation insurance in one plan. The Gold or Platinum plans (or My Travel Guard) cover evacuation expenses all the way to the USA, if you purchase the "medical expense upgrade" (or the Hospital of Choice upgrade). Also, the cost of your trip will be covered if your child cannot participate for a number of unforeseen reasons.

2) Obtain a valid passport (must be valid for at least 6 months after our return) and make 5 copies
    - 1 to stay with parents
    - 1 to put into student's daypack (we will be carrying their original passport)
    - 3 copies for Wonder Treks

3) Medical Appointments
    - Anti-malarial medication
    - Anti-biotic ( for travelers diarrhea and respiratory infections)
    - Vaccinations (as recommended by the CDC for travel to Peru)

4) Legal forms; signed and returned to Wonder Treks by April 15th

5) "Packing List": we will provide advice on required, and recommended, items to pack.

6) Fundraising

7) Payment Due Dates; Dec. 1 ($500), Jan 1 ($1250), Feb. 1 ($1250), March 1 ($1000), April 1 ($1000), & May 1 (remainder).
